Please consider joining Greater Milwaukee Synod Bishop Paul Erickson and Dr. Joyce Caldwell for a six-week study of the recently adopted ELCA Social Statement on Faith and Civic Life. This social statement sets forth the ELCA’s teaching about how disciples and this church may faithfully speak and act in civic life. While existing ELCA social statements and messages address specialized elements of social life, this statement addresses the broad responsibility for seeking the good of all through civic participation. It sketches a vision of a just and robust civic life dedicated to the well-being of all while giving extended attention to the relationship of faith and political authority.
This study will take place via Zoom on six successive Tuesdays, beginning on January 13 and concluding on February 17. There will be two sessions offered each Tuesday, from 10:30 to 12:00 noon and from 6:30-8:00 pm, and participants may choose which session works best for them. While there is no cost for this series, we ask that all participants register in advance and download a copy of the social statement for use in the series. You may also request a paper copy during the registration process.
Join us Tuesdays at either time: 10:30 am – noon or 6:30 pm to 8pm on the following dates:

The Greater Milwaukee Wild Church was officially launched in June of 2025. This ministry has its roots in a world movement that started in Europe as Forest Church, which has evolved and come to North America as Wild Church. It follows the 9th century, early Christian teacher, John Scotus Eriugena’s, idea that God reveals God’s self in two ways. The first way is through Jesus and the scriptures, the second way God reveals God’s self is through creation and nature. This second way has been neglected by the traditional church for centuries. Greater Milwaukee Wild Church will still be a Jesus Christ centered community, but it will emphasize and focus on the ways God speaks to us through creation. Wild Church is a fresh expression of church that now has about 250 communities worshipping in North America and many other countries around the world.
Wild Church has these characteristics:
The Greater Milwaukee Wild Church will hold regular spirituality, worship, service, and fellowship events throughout the Greater Milwaukee Synod. For more information contact Pastor Larry Harpster at: pastorlharpster@gmail.com
