During the time in-between our interim pastor's retirement and the installation of our new called pastor, Pastor Roy Nelson has been called to bridge the gap as our ‘Bridge Pastor" focusing primarily on preaching, worship, visitation & pastoral emergencies.
Many of you already know Pastor Roy. He has led worship at Galilee two Saturdays a month throughout our interim time with Pastor Jennifer, and also served as “supply” (substitute) pastor on Sundays when needed since his retirement. Pastor Roy retired from full time ministry on July 1, 2022 after serving 11 years at All Saints – Wales. Before that he served at First Lutheran - DeKalb, IL and went to seminary at Wartburg in Dubuque, IA.
Pastor Roy is a second career pastor, having been an attorney for 15 years in Milwaukee. Before that he was in law enforcement for 11 years at the City of Brookfield, Village of Butler and Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department. Yes, it’s been an interesting career path, and quite a faith journey. God is good!
Bonus! His lovely wife, Jean, is Galilee’s Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry at Galilee.
Pastor Roy will be serving in a half-time schedule at Galilee, and will look something like this:
· Tuesdays @ Galilee 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
o Tuesday Text study: 9:00 am
o Tuesday Staff Meeting: 10:00 am
o Tuesday Office hours: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
· Wednesdays and Thursdays: Work from home for sermon and worship prep.
· Saturdays and Sundays: Lead worship and preach, three weekends each month.
· Available by phone, text, email or video chat for pastoral emergencies and whatever comes up.
Pastor Roy’s work as board president at Hope Center in Waukesha continues, but with less of a time commitment now that the building project is mostly completed. He will wrap up a few details with the building and be working on the capital campaign, probably two days a week, Mondays and Fridays, and one Sunday a month.
We don’t know how long our “bridge” will be. And we are confident in the Holy Spirit guiding our way!

I am a lifelong Lutheran, daughter of a pastor and a Lutheran school teacher, who grew up in a parsonage in Connecticut. It’s no surprise that after a career as a music therapist/activity director in long term care I found myself working in a church office.
For the past 19 years I have focused on faith formation while experiencing the joys and challenges of ministry with children and families. Along the way I have also been employed as a church organist/pianist and coordinator of volunteer ministries. In all these ways of serving, my goal has been to help others
know, love and follow Jesus.
When my mind is not swimming with ideas for ministry, I enjoy reading, playing piano (especially to accompany others), gardening, rehabbing furniture and eating M&Ms.

I have never NOT known a time when music was a part of my person. My grandfather
called me “squeaky” I think, for that reason.
Born in Pocahontas, Arkansas life was simple and yet hard. Those hardships did not keep my
Grandmother OR I from church. I believe that is what kept us through the hardships. I was the
first in my family to go to college and had the honor to sing the National Anthem at the original Busch stadium at a young age of 17. It was a moment I will never forget.
At around 19 I found myself in Milwaukee, married and was blessed with 3 daughters. They are all grown up now and have families and careers of their own.
I married my life partner Ron DeBlaey in 2015. What a gift he is to my family and to me. We
look forward to making more music and traveling together.
I have been a part of the ELCA since 1992 and was immediately welcomed to music at Mount
Carmel Lutheran Church where I am a choir member, accompanist and continue to hold them as an associate member.
While my career was primarily corporate in nature, I found myself at times teaching general
music at a private Lutheran school, accompanying vocal choirs in the Wauwatosa school district, and providing service accompaniments throughout the synod for the past 32 years.
Galilee was one of those congregations that I served as a “substitute” accompanist. Who knew
that I would be called to be a part of the ministry with you as your Music Director and primary
accompanist for worship.
God, the master weaver of all our fabrics has brought us together and I will never be the same. Hallelujah!
