Ever Want to read the whole bible?

We are four weeks into reading the Bible in a year! We have finished the book of Genesis and are launching into the story of Moses and the Exodus. If you have started reading the Bible with us (or would like to join in) come on Tuesday, February 3rd at 6:00pm and meet with others undertaking this reading plan. We will talk about the readings to this point, and discuss ways we might collaborate in our reading and understanding of the text as we move through the year. If you can’t make the meeting, please email me at pastoramanda@galileelc.org and let me know you are reading with the group. I will be putting together a group to help keep us all connected as we read through Scripture this year, and I’d love to have you in it!

We are inviting all Galileans to join in this day of learning & fellowship!  The more folks that attend the event, the more info we will gather to do ministry at Galilee. About Together in Mission  Join us for our synod’s annual learning gathering of pastors, deacons and lay leaders from across Southeast Wisconsin! Together we’ll worship, celebrate our partnership in the Gospel, and attend workshops on a variety of ministry topics.  2026 will be the year of Collaboration in the synod, focusing on the fourth of our synod’s core values. One of the ways we will be exploring this theme is through the design and production of a synod mural. This process will be led by Tia Richardson, who will introduce the design process during the opening presentation at Together in Mission, which will include viewing a documentary film about a similar project she led in Rockford, IL. All Together in Mission participants have the opportunity to register for one of two design workshops that will take place that morning and afternoon. Additional opportunities to help design and produce the mural will be announced on February 7.

New this year!  Our worship service will be a Lunch Church service led by Rev. Sarah Stumme and Rev. Jaime Larson McLoone. We’ve set aside time for you to find your box lunch and then join in this worship service scheduled for 11:30 am.  Lunch Church (or Dinner Church) is a table-centered expression of church where community, hospitality, and the story of Jesus come together over a shared meal. Rooted in the practices of Jesus and the early church, it creates sacred space for strangers to become friends, stories to be shared, and lives to be transformed. More than a potluck, Lunch Church reimagines the meal as mission—forming new faith communities around the table, not the stage. (From the Fresh Expressions website)

Faith & Civic Life Social Statement Study | Now-Feb 17

Presented by the Greater Milwaukee Synod via Zoom

Please consider joining Greater Milwaukee Synod Bishop Paul Erickson and Dr. Joyce Caldwell for a six-week study of the recently adopted ELCA Social Statement on Faith and Civic Life. This social statement sets forth the ELCA’s teaching about how disciples and this church may faithfully speak and act in civic life. While existing ELCA social statements and messages address specialized elements of social life, this statement addresses the broad responsibility for seeking the good of all through civic participation. It sketches a vision of a just and robust civic life dedicated to the well-being of all while giving extended attention to the relationship of faith and political authority.

This study will take place via Zoom on six successive Tuesdays, beginning on January 13 and concluding on February 17. There will be two sessions offered each Tuesday, from 10:30 to 12:00 noon and from 6:30-8:00 pm, and participants may choose which session works best for them. While there is no cost for this series, we ask that all participants register in advance and download a copy of the social statement for use in the series. You may also request a paper copy during the registration process.

Join us Tuesdays at either time: 10:30 am – noon or 6:30 pm to 8pm on the following dates:

  • January 27
  • February 3
  • February 10
  • February 17

Coming Soon! John "Jack" Beck @ Sunday Adult Education

Galilee will once again welcome author John A. Beck, Ph. D. during Sunday Adult Education hour at Galilee. Professor Beck is a renowned biblical scholar who is a frequent visitor to the Holy Land.  He is a wonderful and gifted storyteller who has shared his faith and connected his knowledge of biblical stories and geography with many audiences.

In 2025 he presented "What Can I Know about Heaven from Earth?"  Heaven is our eternal home.  But popular, well-meaning pictures of heaven often conflict with what the pictures of the Bible paints of this place.  In this study, we explored a portion of what the Bible teaches about our future in heaven by using the things we know from earth.
